Additional Details about Weekly Activities
Research
Students will get to pick a topic they are interested in to research and present to the class. Students will be supervised during their research time to ensure they are safely navigating the internet. Students will also be given various presentation and report options to present their findings to the class.
Social Skills
Students and teachers will have a set time period to discuss topics about respect, kindness, trust, honesty, and more. Teachers will provide lessons and activities to help student learn these traits and opportunities for students to interact and learn more about their classmates and teachers.
Students will be asked to read on their own at least twice a week. They may pick a book that they are interested in as long as it keeps them occupied for the required amount of time.
Independent Reading
Attendance Check ins
Each day, students will need to complete an attendance activity to be marked as present for the day.
Quizzes
Students will complete a short quiz each week to see how they are able to apply what they have learned throughout the week. These quizzes will allow teachers to plan for and adjust individual lessons as students need to ensure mastery is met before a student moves on to the next skill.
Assessments
Every few weeks, students will be given an assessment that will give students some flexibility in how they show their continued mastery of previously learned skills.
